Greenock is a very special place to us. It’s our home. For some of us, it’s the place we were born and raised, filled with memories of family, school, and growing up by the water. For others, it’s our chosen home, a place we’ve come to later in life, where we’ve found community, belonging, and the chance to start fresh.
Through this project, we want to honour Greenock in all its complexity. Like any hometown, it carries contradictions: beauty and hardship, pride and struggle, moments of joy alongside challenges that sometimes overshadow them. Too often, Greenock is spoken about through stereotypes or with negativity. We want to tell another story, one rooted in love, resilience, and the everyday lives that make this place what it is.
The river runs deep here in Greenock—not just in the landscape, but in the currents of memory, identity, and hope that flow through our lives. This is our way of giving something back to the place that continues to shape who we are.
